“Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn’t know before you learned it”
I read this somewhere and it really resonated with me. It’s no lie that we so often are our own harshest critics. Living with regrets that haunt us can be painful. We beat ourselves up for one reason or another. We regret not having been stronger...not having loved someone better when we had the chance... having lost certain friendships...not having started our ideal career path sooner...not having invested our time more wisely...not having our act together the moment we turned 18...not having known what we know now because if we had we would have acted much differently...this constant regret can dangerously influence how we view ourselves. It can cause us to feel and even believe that we are failures. It’s time to let this self-concept go.
Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn’t know before you learned it.
Let this purify you. Let this cleanse you. Let this empower you. Let this reveal what you are capable of.
You are wiser now. You are stronger now. You are this because of your mistakes, not despite them.
To forgive one’s self we grant ourselves permission to be filled with peace. Let this day be different than any other day. Let go of not having known what you know so well now. Let yourself be filled with peace and move forward.
